When you can’t find a job – volunteer!

23 03 2009

Unable to find a job, I decided to volunteer at the hospital.  They have dozens and dozens of open volunteer positions, most of which I could handle without a problem.  So I filled out an application and sent it in.  The next step was to attend an information meeting and then an orientation meeting.  Unfortunately these meetings only take place once a month – on Tuesday evenings.  …that is unfortunate because that I have class on Tuesday evenings.

So I emailed the woman in charge of the volunteer department to explain my situation, express my great desire to volunteer, and to see if there were any options.  I thought maybe I’d be able to come in during the day or some other evening and talk with someone.  She assured me that there aren’t any options; I have to physically attend an information meeting.

So, for those of you keeping score: 1. No job… and 2. I can’t even give my time away!

This world doesn’t know what to do with you, Tim.
